Planting a Feast
What vegetables or fruits can be grown in shaded area?
My yard is about 3/4 of an acre however only the western edge of the yard gets any direct sunlight due to a canopy of oak trees. I am located in Central Florida.
I am looking for suggestions for any vegetables or fruits that can be grown in shade.
I have small garden area along the western side of the yard but would like to grow more. I was thinking about planting green beans or peas along the fence line. I know that blackberries grow well in shade but have plenty more fence line available.
Please do not suggest cutting down the trees. That is not an option.
Almost any vegetable will grow in shade, but they won’t do well. Most need at least 6 hours of sun daily. You may have some success will cool-season crops: lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, etc.
